Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe that we have reached the end of the first half term! Everyone is in a great routine for learning and the children at Broadheath Primary School continue to show excellent behaviour and a great attitude to learning in all classes. Your children are a real pleasure to teach and are all very valuable members of our community!

Please read ahead for our latest updates:

New build

The Food Technology Room should be completed very soon and we can’t wait to get in there and start baking and developing skills which will support the children through life.

Some drainage and internal pipe work will be addressed over the holiday and the builders will be working hard to make progress with our KS2 toilet block which is due for completion at the end of December. The hand over date for the build is now mid-February 2018.

Litter pick

Our thanks go to Stamford Brook Residents Association for organising a litter pick on 1st October. The group of kind volunteers cleared pathways along the perimeter of school and over the bridge to make the journey to school litter free!

No Car Week

Miss Feltham and the Green Team are encouraging all of us to take part in a No Car Week starting on Monday 6th November. For each day you walk your child will receive a Dojo. If they walk every day for a week then they can bring in their slippers to wear on the final Friday to rest their weary feet! Please support the children with this venture – it will be good for your fitness and kinder to the local environment.

Attendance

Each week during Friday assembly I read out the name of the class with the highest attendance percentage. This year we want to really push children and parents to ensure that attendance is high for all pupils. Holidays in term time are discouraged. When children are absent from school they develop gaps in their learning which can cause problems as they try to progress.

Nut free packed lunches

We have a child in school who has a serious nut allergy. Please ensure that children do not bring nuts into school in their packed lunch boxes. Thank you.

Fruit in KS2

Next half term our Sports Leaders plan to sell fruit to KS2 children (Y3 to Y6) during playtime each Tuesday. This will start on Tuesday 7th November, more information to follow next half term.

 Trafford College Partnership

We have had a great response to our course for parents this half term led by South Trafford College. A group of parents have met each Friday afternoon to learn more about how they can support their children with reading.  Feedback has been very positive and the college will be delivering a new course next half term,’ Keeping Up with the Kids in English’, to enable parents to support their children with writing. Please feel free to come along. This 5 week course will take place on a Monday afternoon.

PTFA

Tremendous thanks to our PTFA who, once again, put on a fantastic night of entertainment for our children at the Halloween Disco last night. Some of the outfits were too good and very scary! We all had a fantastic and memorable evening. Thank you to all parent and staff helpers.

Today I met with the committee to make preparations for our Christmas Fair which will take place on Saturday 2nd December 2:30-4:30. Please let us know if you are able to help us with this as it was a wonderful, festive event for all of the community last year and we plan for it to be even bigger and better this year.

KS1 Fruit

Each morning every child from Nursery class to Year 2 receives a piece of fruit. We would really appreciate some parental help with washing the fruit and distributing it to classes. If you could help for just one morning a week then please inform the office and we will add you to our very depleted rota. – thank you.
