Dear Parents,

After a rather disjointed half term, we finish today for the two week Whitsun Holiday.

Please read the following messages and updates for your information:

Y3 and Y4 Parents Grammar School Assembly

Mrs T and I were pleased to welcome the Headteacher and Transition Teacher from Altrincham Grammar School for Boys earlier this month. We discussed how we could work more closely together. The Grammar Schools are keen to encourage pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium funding to consider attending their schools in the future and are inviting the parents of all Year 3 and Year 4 pupils to attend an assembly on Thursday 13th June at 9:10. Both the Girls and Boys Grammar Schools will be leading this assembly at our school to share information about our partnership and provide pupil experiences of their schools.

SATS week and testing

A special well done to all of our Y6 pupils who have shown great determination and an amazing attitude to learning during their SATs last week. They thoroughly enjoyed our early morning breakfast (demolishing 360 chocolate brioche!) and were more than ready to face the challenge of the tests with confidence; striving to beat their own personal best scores. Hats off to all 75 pupils and to the staff who supported their early morning breakfasts.

Attendance

We do not authorise holidays during term time. Every day in school counts.

Events

Well done to the classes who have performed for us this half term in their Class Assembly. The children have learnt so much and have enjoyed sharing this with other children and their parents. We have seen excellent assemblies from 5RH, 4S, RLB, RMW and 3B.

The following classes have thoroughly enjoyed and been great ambassadors of our school on recent trips out: Y1 to Tatton Park, Y5 on the Norbury Hall school swap for the day, Y1 local area walks, Reception to Smithell’s Farm and our Y4 who travelled to Chester to be a Centurion for the day!

Thank you to our super PTFA and parent helpers for a successful KS1 and 2 Cinema Night last month.

Well done to all of our Sports teams who have travelled around the local area playing matches and taking park with a positive spirit and determined mindset. They always represent our school with pride and prove themselves to be great sportsmen and women.

Today is Own Clothes Day. Thank you for your donations of £1 which will contribute towards the student we sponsor in Uganda – David is now in the second year of his Vehicle Mechanics course. He is very grateful to all of our community for supporting his education which provides security for his future, something he would otherwise have no chance of achieving.

Ramadan Assembly and Eid Gifts

Many thanks go to a group of our generous parents who are sharing an assembly with us today to tell us about Ramadan, the most sacred month of the year in Islamic culture. They then plan to share a treat with each child to celebrate the festival of Eid which takes place during the school holiday.

Eid Mubarak to all of our Muslim families.

Breakfast Club Price Increase

At the end of the financial year it has become clear that our Breakfast Club is not financially viable and as a result we will be increasing the cost after the whit holiday. The club continues to provide great value for money and I am pleased to tell you that we have many ideas to continue to improve the provision as we move forward. After listening to parental requests, we now open Breakfast Club at 7:30.

Midday Assistants Required

Any parents/carers who would be interested in becoming a Midday Assistant please contact the office. We would love to hear from you.
