Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back for our final half term – we are now racing ahead to the end of the academic year! Please take a look at the dates for your diary as there are a number of additional events added for specific year groups which might be of interest to you. Below is some further detail which you may find useful.

Running Track – We are all very excited to finally have our own running track! No more muddy footprints on the corridors! We christened the track with a whole school run on Monday morning which was a great event. The children will use the track each day to run the ‘Golden Mile’ (3 laps is approximately 1 kilometre) and the children will be able to access the track during play and lunch times every day. We feel very lucky to have this new facility.

Healthy Living Week – Healthy Living Week takes place during the week beginning 24th June. The children have a great time focusing on healthy living. They talk about their emotional and physical well-being and take part in lots of interesting and exciting activities. As last year, the children will take part in Sex and Relationships Education which comprises of age appropriate, child friendly activities and discussion. We follow a clearly laid out scheme which you are invited to look at in depth from 3:30 to 4:30 on Wednesday 19th June in your child’s class. All pupils are expected to take part in these lessons, which proved informative and positive for children last year.

Multi-Cultural Market Day – Thank you to our very kind parents who have been working hard to arrange a Multi-Cultural Market Day for all of our children. This day provides an opportunity for all pupils to engage in cultural aspects from different countries. I know the children will thoroughly enjoy it.

Class swaps – on Wednesday 17th July we will hold our Class Swap morning in preparation for September. On this day the children will be required to line up in the morning and go straight into class with the teacher they will be having in September. This gives parents the opportunity to have a trail run so you know exactly where to go after the holiday. The children spend an hour with their new teacher and then go back to their usual classroom for the rest of the day. Hopefully this will relieve a little bit of the anxiety around new lines and new classrooms and new teachers before the start of the new school year in September.

Kooth Assembly and workshop Fri 5th July – Kooth is an online counselling service for young people. This service has kindly agreed to come into our school and deliver an Assembly for all Y6 pupil and their parents followed by a short question and answer session for parents only. They will be talking about what their service offers and how they can support young people. Afterwards they plan to do a workshop with the Y6 boys talking about boy’s health and well-being. This service has been highly recommended and we hope will be of great value to our Y6 pupils during this period of transition to high school.

Uniform – Please note that should you wish to purchase new uniform from Gooddies it will need to be ordered before the 15th of July in order to receive it prior to the new term commencing.

PTFA Big Bounce Reminder – Friday, 28th June straight after school, 3:20pm – 5:00pm, the PTFA will be hosting a Big Bounce Event. Last year this family event was a huge success and we are hoping to see you all there.

We look forward to another hard working and successful term ahead. Thank you for your continued support.

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Lyde
