Dear Parents,

In a blink of an eye the half term break is already upon us! We finish today, Friday 8th February and return to school on Tuesday 19th February.

Please read the following messages and updates for your information:

Severe Weather Procedures

Just a reminder that when pathways in school are closed due to severe weather conditions, we will extend registration time in the morning  – registers will remain open until 9:30. At home time in the evening parents may collect their children from 2:50-3:20. These arrangements are intended to relieve pressure on parents and avoid over congestion in and around school at peak times.

Y6 and Y2 SATs Meetings

Parents of pupils in Y2 and Y6 will be invited into school on Tuesday 26th February when the teachers will support parents in understanding the End of Key Stage SATS. Meetings will take place at 9am and 5pm to support working parents.

Gifts from Father Christmas

I would like to thank the children who came into Altrincham to spend our Christmas gift money. The children selected a range of fabulous books, fiction and non-fiction, for their classroom. We then went for a tour, a quiz and a story at the new Altrincham Library. It was a great morning out! Well done to all of the children who attended. As well as having a super time they were great ambassadors for our school.

Attendance and punctuality

Attendance is  improving across the school. Very well done to those classes and pupils who have achieved 100% attendance this half term. Punctuality remains an issue for a number of families. Please ensure that your child does not miss part of their lessons by ensuring that they arrive on time for school. Children should be ready to come into school at 8:55. Nursery sessions start at 8:45 and 12:30. Please ensure that your child does not miss out on their education.

Collecting from clubs

It would be helpful if parents would collect from clubs at the allotted times. You may struggle to access the building if you arrive too early.

Phones

I am aware that a number of parents are permitting their children to use Apps which are not appropriate for their age. Children should not be accessing Instagram, tik-tok, snapchat of Whatsapp at this age and each year we have to support children who have negative experiences because of such usage. I urge parents to be very cautious and closely monitor this. We discourage phones in school. Phones are not allowed in classrooms or cloakrooms and if brought onto the premises should be handed into the school office and collected at the end of the day.

Evolve – meal ordering system

Should your child be unwell after having ordered a meal for them, please ensure that you cancel their meal on the ‘my evolve hub’ lunch system, this must be done by 09:00hrs on the day of service by the parent/carer.  Should your child be on a school trip, please order a sandwich for the day of the trip and the kitchen staff will prepare it for them to take.

PTFA

Thanks to our PTFA this half term for providing another successful Cinema Night for the children. We look forward to the Glow Disco when we return to school on Thursday 21st February.

Class Assemblies

Well done to the classes who have performed for us this half term in their Class Assembly. The children have learnt so much and have enjoyed sharing this with other children and their parents. We have seen excellent assemblies from 2S, 2JB, 2R, 6B and 6D. We look forward to watching the following classes perform next half term: 1w, 1F, 4WH, 5RB and 3H.

Uniform

Please ensure that your child has the correct school uniform. Children in KS2 (Y3-Y6) must wear the school tie and all children should wear sensible black school shoes. Girls with long hair should have it tied back. Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled.

Class and group photographs will be taken on Wednesday 13th March.

Additional Day’s Holiday

There will be an unavoidable closure on Thursday 2nd May as we have only recently been informed of a local election. Moving forward, the Community Centre will become the official polling station from 2020.

Parking and crossing

Please consider our residents and park with care.  Remember the walking bus is for any children from Reception to Year 6 so do make the most of it. We meet at Waitrose each morning and leave around 8:45.

Bramley Farm and the Community Centre are happy for our families to park for short periods in their spaces. Please ensure that you park in allocated parking bays.
