Welcome to Nursery

Welcome to Nursery!

Our year group philosophy is centred around the school’s motto ‘Believe-Practise-Succeed’. We pride ourselves in promoting positive learning habits and growth mindset within the children which instils the children’s readiness for learning and their next steps.

We pride ourselves on providing a caring, secure and stimulating indoor and outdoor environment where children feel valued and happy. Each day children are eager and ready to learn. The children enjoy exploring and learning in our purpose-built Nursery which has a large multipurpose outdoor area.

All staff work closely with parents and carers to build effective relationships and communication between school and home. We use a variety of platforms to keep parents informed of their child’s progress and learning through newsletters, class dojo, parent’s evenings, transition and open days.

Many parents enrich the children’s learning experiences at school by coming into our setting to share cultural traditions and celebrations. Parents regularly share their love of reading and stories through our mystery reader activities.

We are an inclusive nursery school where each child is given equal opportunity to discover and develop through high quality teaching and play based learning (please see our class overview.) We provide an exciting and enriching curriculum which is broad and balanced to foster children’s curiosity with wonder and awe.

In Nursery our aims are…

To create a warm, caring and secure environment where children’s individual needs are supported allowing them to grow into independent, confident characters who are respected and valued.

To work in close partnership with parents; enabling children to reach their full potential, beginning their school journey in a positive and happy way.

To provide well planned activities and opportunities, allowing children to progress successfully through the Early Years Foundation Stage.

To support diversity and welcome all children recognising that each child’s learning journey is unique and individual.

To support all children to make excellent progress from their starting points, with a high emphasis on the prime areas of learning (personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and physical development.)

To provide all children with the opportunities and early learning experiences to become an effective communicator with an increasing vocabulary.

To provide a smooth transition into Reception and that children are given the skills to be ready for school.
