Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s almost half term and time for me to share a few messages with you before we finish for our one week holiday.

Owls’ Nest

We are delighted with our fabulous new After School Club – the children all love to come each night! Owls’ Nest is a home from home setting where the children can relax, have a hot meal and play or chill out in a friendly, caring atmosphere. We already have 105 children enrolled!

Over the half term break we will be running a Holiday Club. If you want your child to attend for any period of time during this week then you must register by lunchtime on Friday 7th February – tomorrow! After this date we will not be accepting any more pupils as our staffing ratios will then be set and fixed. Don’t miss out – there will be crafts, sports and great fun each day! The usual holiday club fees apply with new fees for an earlier start or a half day option.

Parental support

Thanks as always to the PTFA for supporting us this term. They have attended class assemblies to provide refreshments, they have held meetings open to all parents and they have arranged a brilliant Glow Disco for the whole school and a KS2 Youth Club which will run this evening. Tickets will be available on the door.

Thank you to those parents who come into school regularly to listen to readers – this is much appreciated by staff.

Thanks too to those parents who supported our recent Open Day, providing refreshment and escorting the School Council Representatives as they proudly presented our school to new and existing parents – I’m certain they were all very impressed!

Class Dojo and Behaviour

Here at school our teachers find Class Dojo a great system for keeping in touch with parents. It is most regularly used to share the positive behaviours of pupil during the school day and pupils of all ages respond really well to it. Please be aware that we will also be using it to let you know if your child has failed to bring in homework or is not wearing full school uniform or any other issue we think you need to be aware of. We would be grateful if you could support us in ensuring that your child is always well prepared for the day ahead as this encourages their independence and ensures they meet our high expectations.

Uniform

Our children look incredibly smart in their school uniform: it’s our identity and we are all very proud of this. Please ensure that children are wearing school shoes during the day and have trainers or pumps for PE. Children in KS2 must wear a tie and should have shirts tucked in to be ready for learning. Long hair should be tied back and severe haircuts go against our Uniform Policy which is available on our school website.

Hygiene

At this time of year viruses and sickness bugs can be prevalent. We are incredibly lucky to have Mr Beech and his team who work tirelessly to keep our school spotless every day. At present they are doing an additional deep clean on handles, doorways and key areas to prevent germs from spreading. The most important things to prevent infection is to ensure regular hand washing, which we encourage, and to stay off school for 48 hours after the last bought of sickness or diarrhoea occurs. We have hand sanitiser in each classroom and at the entrances to the dining room. Children should be trained and encouraged to cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze and then to wash their hands. At present we have a fairly low rate of sickness in school and with your support we will continue to work hard to maintain this.

Calendar Dates

The calendar for the academic year 2020-2021 is now on the school website – please check this before booking any holidays as school does not authorise holidays during term time.

Diary dates are also on the calendar. A new date to remember is 11th March when the photographers are in to take team and class photographs.

Punctuality and attendance

Please remember that the school gates close at 9am. After this time children will need to be signed into school by an adult in the late book. If your child is absent please let the school office know before 9am. You can leave a message on the answer phone to report sickness by pressing option one. Please make any appointments out of school time and if no alternative, please bring the appropriate medical letter or card to show the office if you wish to collect during school hours.

Pupil Achievements

Well done to Max O, one of our Y6 pupils who achieved an abundance of medals at the recent Cheshire County Swimming Championship, achieving 12 county medals in total – 5 bronze, 4 silver and 3 Gold!!!!
